There's something about the shift into fall that makes us want to slow down, light a candle, and settle in. The right scent can do a lot — it can make a room feel warmer, signal the start of a new season, and anchor a moment in memory.
If you're looking to refresh your space for autumn, here's our guide to the scents we reach for as the air gets cooler — every one of them available right here.
Warm Spice & Brown Butter
Think toasted sugar, warm butter, and a whisper of clove. These gourmand-leaning scents are cozy without being overpowering — perfect for kitchens, living rooms, and anywhere you gather.
- Brown Butter Pumpkin — our most-reached-for fall scent. Rich, warm, and not too sweet.
- Hey, Pumpkin! — a cheerful, spiced pumpkin with great throw in larger rooms.
- Apple Strudel — baked apple, cinnamon, and pastry warmth. Makes any room smell like a weekend morning.
- Rake, Pile, Leap — a playful nod to crisp fall air and dry leaves. Light and nostalgic.
Woodsy & Earthy
Tobacco, smoke, and deep earthy warmth. These grounding scents are perfect for home offices, reading nooks, and bedrooms where you want something lasting and atmospheric.
- Barn Dance — hay, wood, and open air. Warm without being heavy.
- Sweet Tobacco Leaves — rich and slightly sweet with a smooth, smoky finish. Also available in a 7 oz Classic size.
- Tobacco & Honey — deep, honeyed, and indulgent. One of our most distinctive scents.
- Fireside Flannel — the scent of a cozy evening in. Smoke, cedar, and soft warmth.
Sweet & Creamy
Softer and more comforting, these scents are the olfactory equivalent of a warm bowl of something good. They work especially well in kitchens, dining areas, and bedrooms.
- Oatmeal, Milk & Honey — gentle, nourishing, and warm. A year-round favorite that feels perfectly at home in fall. Also in a 7 oz Classic size.
Crisp & Herbal
Not every fall scent needs to be heavy. If you prefer something lighter and more refreshing, this one's for you.
- Eucalyptus Lavender — clean, calming, and grounding. Ideal for bathrooms, bedrooms, or anywhere rich scents can overwhelm. A perfect complement to heavier fall candles in other rooms.
Two Ways to Enjoy: Warmer or Flame
Here's something worth knowing: you don't have to light your candle to enjoy it.
Our candles are fully compatible with candle warmer lamps — and using one comes with a beautiful bonus. When you warm a candle instead of burning it, the wax never melts down, the wick stays pristine, and the candle looks completely untouched. Only the scent is released into the air. It's a flameless, soot-free way to fill a room with fragrance while keeping your candle looking as gorgeous on your shelf as the day you got it.
That said, there's something irreplaceable about a lit flame — the flicker, the ritual, the glow. Both are valid. Many of our customers do both: warm their candles on weekday evenings for effortless scent, and light them on weekends or for entertaining when the ambiance matters just as much as the fragrance.
Explore our Crystal Glass & Wood Base Candle Warmer and the Warmer Flute with Fluted Amber Glass — both designed to complement the aesthetic of your space as much as your candles do.
How to Layer Scents
One candle is a mood. Two thoughtfully chosen candles in adjoining rooms is a whole atmosphere. We recommend anchoring your main living space with something warm and spiced — like Brown Butter Pumpkin or Fireside Flannel — then choosing something softer like Eucalyptus Lavender for bedrooms or entryways.
A Note on Burn Time
To get the most from your candle when burning it, always allow the wax to melt to the edges on the first burn — this prevents tunneling and ensures an even, long-lasting scent throw. Trim your wick to ¼ inch before each burn for a cleaner flame.
